Abstract [sv]
The purpose of this study was to investigate if the level of knowledge about doping differed between team and individual sportsmen. This was done on male top-level sportsmen from Halland, Sweden. The theories that are used are Gerbner´s model of communication and Blankertz´ theory of didactics. The method that was used was a questionnaire that contained 20 questions about doping. The 85 male respondents (47 team and 38 individual sportsmen) were active in eight different associations in sport and the mean age was 23.7 years. The selection was representative. The results showed that there was a difference in knowledge about doping between team and individual sportsmen. The individual athletes knew significantly more about doping than the team athletes (t=-2.46, p<0.05). Another result was that the athletes that considered doping knowledge of top-level athletes as important also knew more themselves. This was showed by a significant correlation (rho = 0.328, p<0.05).
