Abstract [sv]

The purpose of this essay is to establish if Romania experienced a positiv democratic development during the last decade. To accomplish this I choose to analyse the mass media, the political parties, election system and police force. The analysis of the democratic level of today´s mentioned democratic institutions will reflect the Romania´s democratic development as a whole. In order to crystallize som differencies, the chosen institutions will be compared with the communist equivalence. The analysis revealed that all the institutions went through a extensive democratical maturity process. The nature of each one of them is today free and democratic. The conclusion of this essay is Romania achieved a positiv democratic development the last decade in spite of the communist legacy that followed the romanians life a bit into the nineties.
